Jeffrey Jay Zimmerman, 54, died Friday, February 22, 2013, surrounded by his family, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
He was born November 21, 1958, in Fergus Falls, the son of Sterling and Elnora (Leabo) Zimmerman. He grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1980. He worked at Productive Alternatives for many years until an illness prevented him from working.
Jeff lived with his mom until the age of 25, when he then went to live in a group home with Prairie Community Services and the last 4 ½ years he has been with Synstelien Services in Fergus Falls.
While living at home, he loved working with the animals and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, playing with and collecting tractors and sitting in front of the TV on Sundays watching the MN Vikings!
Preceding him death were his grandparents, Fred and Francis Zimmerman, L. Mabel and Melvin Leabo and John Kollar; his parents, Sterling Zimmerman and Elnora and Carl Carlson and a nephew, Eric Hiedeman.
Survivors include his siblings, Kenneth Zimmerman, of Staples, Kim Zimmerman of Fergus Falls, JoAnne (Bryan) Hiedeman of Fergus Falls, Sylvia Olsen of Fergus Falls, and Marianne (fiancé Brad Moore) Carlson of Fergus Falls, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
