Jeffrey Allen Johnson, a life-long resident of Fergus Falls, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2017, at the age of 68 while fishing on Long Lake.
Jeff was born on May 3, 1949, in Fergus Falls, the son of Arly and Beryl (Davenport) Johnson, one of five children.
He attended high school in Fergus Falls and graduated from Bemidji State University.
On April 9, 1977, he was married to Bette Kolstad of Underwood. To this union their son, Jason, was born.
Jeff was employed by Great Plains Natural Gas for 30 years. He retired as Office Manager in 2012.
His greatest pleasure was watching his son, Jason, play hockey and baseball, and watching him grow into a successful young man. Jeff also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his good friend, Bruce Froslee, at the farm, fishing, and hunting. His “special job” was taking care of the guys at The Corner.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Nancy and Gail; brother-in-law, Roy Ouren; and his dog, Jake.
Jeff is survived by his ex-wife and closest friend, Bette; his son, Jason, and his dog, Suzi; sisters, Karen Ouren of Willmar, Donna O’Meara (Edward) of Eureka, CA; numerous nieces and nephews, and all of his friends he played cards and fished with.
He will be missed.
