Jeffrey Hootman

Jeffrey Lynn Hootman, 71, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at his home under the care of his family and Lakeland Hospice. He was born February 18, 1941, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, the son of Joseph B. and Margery E. (Mobley) Hootman. He grew up in Coshocton, Ohio, graduating from high school there in 1959. Jeffrey served as an administrative clerk typist with the U.S. Air Force from 1961 – 1963. On May 4, 1963, he married Beverly Rae Larson in Clover Valley, Minnesota. Jeffrey was employed as a men’s clothing buyer for the JC Penney Co. from 1964 – 1976 in Duluth, MN, and then was the store manager of Cash Bazaar in Boise, ID from 1976 – 1979. He later worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from 1980 – 2001, serving in Duluth, MN, and Meridian, ID. Jeffrey was a member of Meridian 1st Baptist Church in Meridian, ID. He enjoyed sports, playing golf, and cars. Preceding him in death were his parents, and two brothers, Joseph and Keith. Survivors include his wife, Beverly, of Fergus Falls; two sons: Jeffrey Hootman (fiancée Nancy Pierson) of Farmington, MN, and Brian (Marylin) Hootman of Nampa, ID; four grandchildren: Aaron, Rachael, Andrew and Brock Foster; a sister, Judith Souslin of Tyler, TX; and nieces and nephews.
