Jeanette Ingeborg Overlid

Jeanette Ingeborg Overlid, age 99, formerly of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Haven Homes Assisted Living in Maple Plain.

She was born on September 8, 1917, in Teien Township to Christine (Aas) and Mathias Tungseth.

On September 16, 1939, Jeanette married Bjarne G. Overlid at Skjeberg Lutheran Church in Teien Township near Drayton, ND. The couple resided on the Overlid family farm near Oslo. In the early 1970’s, the couple moved to Grand Forks, ND for ten years. After their retirement in the early 1980’s, the couple moved to Alexandria and later in 2001 to Fergus Falls. Jeanette moved to Maple Plain in 2014.

Jeanette belonged to Bigwoods Lutheran Church near Oslo where she was an organist, Sunday School teacher and member of the Ladies Aide. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing and jig-saw puzzles. Through the years she enjoyed being a gracious hostess to family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Bjarne, and siblings, John, Reuben, Erling and Marvin.

Jeannette is survived by her children: Arlene (John) Thomas of Otsego, Bruce (Teresa) Overlid of Punta Gorda, Florida, Duane (Geovanny) Overlid of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ron (Jeff) Overlid of Minneapolis, and Kendall Overlid of Richfield; grandchildren: Sherri Peterson, Sara (Mark) Paepke, Todd Peterson, and great-grandchildren: Anna Paepke and Sophia Paepke.


Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016, Calvary Free Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Jim Johnson
Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls.
Arrangements: Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
