Jeanette was born in Duluth, Minnesota on April 10, 1922, the daughter of Oscar and Olga (Cerosky) Brandt. When she was three years old the family moved to Tordenskjold Township in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, where she attended school at District 20. When she was 13 the family moved to Fergus Falls where she graduated from Washington High School in 1940. She worked in the Register of Deeds Office as an abstractor until her marriage to Michael A. Lucking on May 8, 1943 in Pampa, Texas, where Michael was stationed at Pampa Air Force Base. Jeanette continued her work as an abstractor while in Pampa. When they were transferred to Liberal Army Air Base she became a purchasing agent for the Corps of Engineers. The family settled in Fergus Falls after the end of World War II. After the birth of her daughter, Laurie, she became a homemaker. When Michael was called back into the Army in 1951, the family moved to Fort Bliss, Texas, and Jeanette became a Grey Lady volunteer at the post hospital. Jeanette had a son, Patrick, after the family’s return to Fergus Falls. She again became a homemaker but was very active in various organizations, clubs, and as a volunteer. Jeanette was a charter member of Catholic Daughters and the St. Anne Society. She was a member of Homemakers, several bridge clubs, and the VFW auxiliary. She was also a Campfire leader and taught Catechism classes at Our Lady of Victory. She was employed to do the abstract for the Great Plains Natural Gas Line through Otter Tail County. After her children were raised, Jeanette took a position as manager of the Riverview Heights Apartment complex. She held that position for 15 years. In her later years she also volunteered at Lake Region Hospital, the Veteran’s Home, and for Meals on Wheels. She organized several reunions for the Class of 1940 and District 20 School. Jeanette loved to play the piano. She was preceded in death by her brother, Owen Brandt, and her parents. Survivors include her husband, Michael, of Fergus Falls, her daughter, Laurie Lucking of Mililani, HI, her son, Patrick Lucking of Minneapolis, her grandchildren, Nicolas, Caitlin, and Alex Jensen, and her sister, Elaine Brandt Rule of Burkburnett, TX.
