Janice Prause

Janice Louise Prause, 82, a resident of Fergus Falls was found dead at her residence on March 26, 2024.

She was born October 3, 1941 in Cumberland, WI to Leonard and Elsie (Anderson) Jacobs. She grew up on a farm just north of Poskin, WI, graduating from Barron High School in 1959. After graduation she worked as a secretary for St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company while residing with an uncle and aunt in Roberts, WI.

On May 7, 1961 she married Eugene Prause at Collingwood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cumberland, WI. After their marriage they moved to St. Paul where they lived and had their first daughter. They moved to Hastings, MN shortly thereafter and lived there for 38 years. She worked at the Hastings School District #200 as a Title 1 Aide for 27 years. They retired to Fergus Falls, MN in 2003.

Jan was an active church member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls since 2003 and chairman of the Human Care Board. Jan was known for her homemade cards whether it was a holiday, a thank you or just a special card for the shut-ins from church, she made cards for all, signed with her logo KittyKrafts. Jan loved cats, roses, tea, candlesticks, teddy bears, and her four grandchildren and now her three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene and her parents, Leonard and Elsie Jacobs.

She is survived by daughters, Dawne (Bruce) Barwin of Thompson, ND and Christine (Mark) Call of Vermillion, MN; four grandchildren, Tim (Rae Lynn) Barwin, Matt Barwin (Cassie Erickson), Nathaniel Call and Grace Call; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Dakota and Audrey Barwin; two siblings, Bev (Ron) Gabe and Joe (Kathy) Jacobs and cousin like a sister, Colleen Diesterhaft.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Lutheran Hour Ministries in St Louis, MO, LCMS, World Relief, Trinity Lutheran Church Human Care Board.

Visitation: one hour prior to service at the church

Funeral Service: 1:00pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, MN

Clergy: Rev Christopher Lieske and Rev Roger Lange

Interment will be at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery, Turtle Lake, WI.
