Janice “Jan” Urseth, 68, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
She was born June 14, 1945 in Erskine, Minnesota to John and Mary Jane (Thoreson) Hamre. Jan grew up in Erskine and attended Erskine High School, graduating in 1963.
On April 18, 1980 Jan was united in marriage to Gordon Urseth in Erskine.
In June 2010 she met Jim Spicer in Grand Forks. Jim became a very important man in her life as he was her, in her words, “life support”. He was there to make sure she was cared for in every way.
Jan loved to play bingo, playing cards and games and enjoyed sitting in the sun. She also loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She was known as “goofy grandma” because she was silly and so full of life.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Gordy; brother-in-law, Louie.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (Charlie) Kittleson of Roseau; stepsons, Steve (Michelle) Urseth of Manvel, ND, Jim (Jodi) Urseth of Florida; grandchildren, Jessica (fiancé Lucas Hansen) Kittleson, Kayla (Brian) Anderson, Brian (special friend, Brooke Jamieson) Kittleson, John Urseth, Chris Urseth, Jenna Urseth; 5 great grandchildren, Spencer, Marshall, Cameron, Emma, Caleb; her companion, Jim Spicer of Fergus Falls; siblings, Carol (Don) Clay, Patricia Sese, Jack (Cynthia) Hamre.
