Janet Gervais, 85, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
She was born June 9, 1929, in Pipestone, the daughter of George and Rachel (Williams) Robson. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from high school there. Following high school she attended Carlton College.
On September 3, 1949, she married Bernard “Barney” Gervais in Marshall. They resided in St. Paul, moving to Fergus Falls in 1952 where Barney began his dental practice. During their retirement, they resided in Sun City West, AZ and Fergus Falls.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls and Our Lady of Lourdes of Sun City West, AZ. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, the OLV Choir, a former board member of the Fergus Falls Library, Fergus Falls YMCA and the Pioneer Home. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, quilting, reading, skiing, walking and volunteering for many organizations in MN and AZ.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband and a grandson, Nathan Evavold.
Survivors include two daughters and six sons, Meg (Dave) Schiller of Detroit Lakes, Marty (Mary) of Breckenridge, CO, Phil (Sue) of Sandpoint, Idaho, Matt (Nancy) of Steilacoom, WA, Tom (Terry) of Fergus Falls, Amy (Daryl) Evavold of Fergus Falls, John (Leigh) of Fergus Falls, and Joe (Patti) of Colchester, VT; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Woodruff of Vero Beach, FL and Rosalie Lindquist of Port Townsend, WA, along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Fergus Falls Public Library Foundation or Our Lady of Victory school endowment fund.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015 with a prayer service at 6:30 at the funeral home and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church
Mass of Christian Burial: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls
Clergy: Father Alan Wielinski and Deacon Chuck Kampa
Interment: St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery, Fergus Falls
