Jane Shearer, age 81, of Fergus Falls died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls. She was born on February 7, 1928 in Fergus Falls the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Weldon) Whitlock. She grew up in Friberg Township where she attended school. Later she worked in Fergus Falls at both the ‘Scott 5 and Dime’ and the City Bakery. On June 15, 1947 she married Gerald Shearer in Fergus Falls where they lived until 1962. They them moved to Moorhead where Jane worked at a variety of jobs. In the early 1970’s they returned to the area and built a home out on Heilberger Lake before moving back to town in 1998. Over the years she was involved in many things including being a partner in Meadow Farm Foods, foster care and day care. She loved to garden, cook and tend to her family and was an avid deer hunter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2007, an infant daughter, Nancy, brothers; Frank Whitlock, Jim Whitlock, Jerry Whitlock, Harvey Whitlock, an infant brother Ralph and a sister, Ruth Johnson. Survivors include two daughters; Barbara (Robert) Von Hagen of Leonard, ND and Kathryn (Roger Lewis) McLaughlin of Barnesville; two sons: Wayne Shearer of Erhard and Marc (Rebecca) Shearer of rural Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister Donna Hill of Hibbing, MN, two brothers; Bill (June) Whitlock of Hibbing, and Ronnie (Brenda) Whitlock of Fergus Falls as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
