James “Jim” V. Logan, 55, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday July 19, 2008, at Innovis Health, in Fargo, North Dakota. Jim was born October 24, 1952, in Fergus Falls, the son of Ernest and Elsie (Burns) Logan. He graduated from Ashby High School in 1972. After a short period of time in Minneapolis, he returned to rural Ashby. He then met the love of his life, Ginny Goelz. After getting married on September 3, 1977, in Starbuck, they lived in a variety of places, moving to Fergus Falls in 1989 where they continued to make their home. Jim had many hobbies. He enjoyed metal detecting for “treasures”, fishing, hunting, and playing various games on the computer. He also enjoyed spending time having “pots” of coffee with friends, and playing with his grandchildren. He volunteered as an elementary wrestling coach, and also volunteered at the Salvation Army. Jim most enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered as everyone’s Dad and PaPa. Anyone that crossed Jim’s path in life loved him. He was a practical joker and an exceptionally kind man. Preceding him in death were his parents and his mother-in-law, Bev Goelz, and a niece, Tammy Kvietk. Survivors include his wife, Ginny of Fergus Falls; two daughters: Brandi (Chris) Hammer of Henning, and Jenna (Andrew) Gunther of Fergus Falls; one son, Eric (fiancee` Missy) Logan of Fergus Falls; 13 grandchildren: Alex, Zachary, Taylor, Kendalle, Madisyn, Grace, Mason, Samantha, Aalexis, Izaak, Austin, Brooklynn and Lynnzie; five sisters: Carol (Roger) Torgerson of Sunberg, MN, Betty (Doug) Dandurand of Granite Falls, MN, Deloris Kvietk, of Glenwood, MN, Marie Logan of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Darlene (John) Lillis of Perham, MN; seven brothers: Roger (Joyce) Logan of Lowry, MN, Dale (Vicky) Logan of Cyrus, MN, John Logan of Clarkfield, MN, Dean (Ann) Logan of Alexandria, MN, Chuck Logan of Morris MN, Lavern Logan of Florida, and Bob (Jean) Logan of Wisconsin Dells, WI; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his special friends, Carol and Gary Bothun of Dalton, his father-in-law, LeRoy (Audrey) Goelz of Morton, MN, and many foster children that lived in the Logan home over the years. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
