James “Jim” B. Johnson, 83, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
James Bertram Johnson was born October 12, 1939 to Bertram and Margaret (Kapell) Johnson in Breckenridge, MN. He attended country school in Foxhome and later earned his GED. Jim served in the United States Marine Corps for three years. He served in Okinawa. He received the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal (E-3).
On August 19, 1961, Jim married Patricia Eckley at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
Over the years Jim worked at the Fergus Fall State Hospital as an orderly, a hardware store as a sales associate, and Olson Furniture Store as a sales associate, retiring after 42 years of employment there.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls for 62 years and also a member of the Fergus Falls VFW.
Jim enjoyed mowing the lawn, cutting down dandy lions, and gardening with his wife Pat. He enjoyed going to church, having coffee with his friends every morning in town, and supporting his grandchildren at sporting/life events. He had a Christmas Village and Santa Nights for 24 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Bertram and Margaret Johnson, and siblings, Robert, James, Gertrude, Donald, Betty, Louise, Richard, Joyce, and John (Jim’s twin).
Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia Johnson; his children, Jeffrey (Delinda) Johnson of Madison, WI, Cory (Kimberley) Johnson of Alexandria, and Darin (Wanda) Johnson of Fargo; grandchildren, Taylor (William) and Emma Claire, Caitlin (Nick), Kendra (Seth), and Carson (fiancé, Julia); great-grandchild, Henry, and his sister, Janet Moore.
Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2023 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Military Participation: Fergus Falls VFW Post 612 and American Legion Post 30
Interment: Bethlehem Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN
