James Cecil Faulkner, 61, of Rothsay, passed from this world to another on October 22, 2013, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota after a long battle with heart disease.
Jim was born December 13, 1951, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the son of Cecil and Geraldine (Matson) Faulkner. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1970.
On June 24, 1987 he married Deborah Wiese. He worked as a custom combiner in his earlier years and later began working as a farm laborer. He loved working outdoors on the farm and especially loved running combines. He was able to repair machinery and had a knack for knowing what was wrong and how to fix it. His work became easier when the machines drove themselves, thanks to GPS! He also worked for a time as an electrician wiring grain elevators.
Jim loved to play black jack and was an avid card player. He also was an ace at playing checkers and few could beat him. If you lasted past three or four moves against him you could consider yourself lucky! Jim also enjoyed cutting down trees and cutting wood. No job was too big or small for Jim and he wasn’t afraid to tackle any job. He was a friend to all and never said a bad word about anybody. At times, Jim was known to entertain us with some colorful stories that some might call “tall tales”. We loved all of his stories and will have refreshing memories and fitful stitches of laughter when we revisit those memories.
Jim was a loving, devoted husband, brother, son, and uncle whose presence will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his father, grandfather, and uncles.
He is survived by his wife Deborah, his mother Geraldine Kassahn, step-father Virgil, brothers and sisters Ken (Toni), Allen (LuElla), Suzy Kai (T.J.), Patsy Boatman (Paul), Michael (Mary), Annette O’Keefe, Randy (Ruth), and a multitude of nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews.
