James J. Eggum

James J. Eggum, 74, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his home as a result of cancer.

James was born to Joseph and Hilda (Bendt) Eggum in El Reno, OK. He grew up in Elbow Lake where he graduated with the Class of 1958.

Over the years Jim has worked in an auto body shop and the construction business. In the early 90’s he established “J. Eggum Metals & Recycling” east of Fergus Falls. Jim was always a supporter of being your own boss. He was a hard working, generous man who always saw the glass as “half full” and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

He is the proud father of two daughters Marsha and Mary, who were the one of the greatest joys of his life.

Jim was a member of the Eagles Club. In his spare time he enjoyed reading western books, watching John Wayne movies and spending time with his grandchildren.

Proceeding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter Brenda; two sisters, Ida Johnson and Cynthia Endecott; a brother, Roy Eggum; son-in-law, R.W. “Bob” Roaldson.

He is survived by two daughters, Marsha (Terry Friesen) Roaldson of Fergus Falls and Mary (Mark) Oren of Brandon, SD; five grandchildren, Dustin, Grace, Elise, Ross and Danielle. For the last 19 years Jim shared his life with Marion Rund, along with her children; Paula (Steve) Barsness of Fergus Falls and Mark (Doreen) Rund of Dalton and welcomed them into his heart. Beloved uncle to Bob (Sandi) Johnson, Pat Eggersgluss, Jerry (Peggy) Johnson, Deb (Ron) Canaan, Scott (Kim) Eggum, Kristi (Wade) Erickson, Kim (Greg) Watterud, April Shanley, David (Rhonda) Endecott, Sean (Alicia) Endecott and their families. In addition, he will be missed by his countless friends.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Olson Funeral Home
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014, at Pioneer Care Chapel, Fergus Falls
