James G. “Jim” Drechsel, 79, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at his home under the care of Lakeland Hospice. He was born February 7, 1930 in Fergus Falls, the son of John and Anne Drechsel. He attended rural School District #36. On June 24, 1953, he married Geraldine Moen at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rothsay, Minnesota. They farmed near Jewett Lake. In 2001 they moved to Fergus Falls. Jim’s passions were hunting, fishing, and observing his grandchildren’s activities. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed giving his Hospice nurses grief. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, John and Norman; and a son-in-law, Louis Ramirez. Survivors include his wife, Gerry, of Fergus Falls; son, Ronald (Janice) Drechsel of Dilworth; daughters, Julene (Don) Ruby of Fergus Falls, and Diane (Dave) Johnson of Pelican Rapids; four grandchildren, Tyler Drechsel, Stacie Drechsel, Louie Ramirez and John Ramirez; a brother, Elwyn (Esther) Drechsel of Fergus Falls; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
