James Anderson

James R. Anderson, 63, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his home under the care of Lakeland Hospice.  He was born May 24, 1945, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Lewis and Alda Maye (Hoyt) Anderson. He grew up on a farm south of Foxhome, graduating from Campbell High School. In 1965 he joined the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. On January 3, 1966, he married Ruth Genoch in Dent. He finished out his military service in Colorado, receiving his discharge in 1967. They then lived in the Fergus Falls and Rothsay area. Jim owned his own truck, hauling grain throughout the state. In addition, he worked for area farmers doing farm work. In October of 1991 he began working for Fergus Power Pump as a driver, retiring in May of 2007. In July of 2007, when James began having health problems, his grandson, Jacob, began taking care of him, and eventually became his live-in primary caregiver. Jim enjoyed hunting, horses, camping, boating, motorcycles, snowmobiling and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Duane and Jerry McKeehan. Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Anderson of Fergus Falls, and Christina Anderson of Breckenridge; a son, Richard Anderson of Fergus Falls; five grandchildren: Jacob, Brittany, Dale Jr., Victoria, and Porter; two sisters, Donna (Stan) Baglo of Fergus Falls, and Linda (Armin) Sternberg of Fergus Falls; and a brother, Dennis (Geri) McKeehan of LeSueur, Minnesota. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service.
