Irene Weatherly, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, February 27, 2009, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born October 28, 1918, in Pipestone, the daughter of Paul and Minnie (Wittfoth) Hardies. She grew up in Rock Township of Pipestone County, attending School District 41. On March 6, 1937, she married Floyd Weatherly at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, MN, by Reverend Rudy Steinmeyer. The couple lived in Holland and Pipestone where they raised their family. In 1968, they moved to Morris where they purchased the King Koin Laundromat, operating the business until retiring in 1977. Following retirement they moved to Fergus Falls. Irene was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and a volunteer at Lake Region Hospital for many years. She enjoyed quilting, reading, canning, gardening, handiwork and was very interested in her family and their activities. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Floyd, who died in 1998; and a sister, Irma Pulscher. Survivors include her children, Carol (Joe) Goettsch of Circle Pines, Bob (Jo) Weatherly of Fergus Falls, Marilyn (Rodney) Luedtke of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Jim Weatherly of Stillwater, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, Janelle, Lisa, Curt, Cory, Doug, Amy, Paula, Mandy, Ann, Beth, Chris and Katie; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence “Bud” (Sylvia) Hardies of Holland, MN and two sisters, Mavis (Floyd) Fritz of Sioux Falls, SD and Norma (Lloyd) Schoenefeld of Clear Lake, SD.
