Irene Laverne Kullhem, 79, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was born December 11, 1931, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Jackson) Bakeman. After her father's death, her mother married Albert Milbeck, and he adopted her. She grew up in Fergus Falls graduating from Fergus Falls High School, and then attending Nurse's Training. On March 1, 1952, she married Marvin Kullhem in Fergus Falls. She was employed at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center and Lake Region Hospital. In addition she did alterations at Norby's Department Store. In later years she worked at various department stores, including Scotts, Ben Franklin, and Gibsons. Irene enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She was also an avid reader and an excellent cook. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Vearl Brack and Sandra Ray, and her parents. Survivors include a daughter, Sharyl (Rick) Sletten of Fergus Falls; two sons: Wesley (Jane) Kullhem of Centennial, Colorado, and Loren Kullhem of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren; a brother, Albert Milbeck of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
