Inga Kragrud

Inga Marie Kragrud, 99, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls. She was born February 27, 1911, on the family farm in Oscar Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Sigrid (Hagen) Fosse. She grew up on the farm, attending country school. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1929, then attended Moorhead State Teacher’s College, graduating in 1930. From 1930 – 1940 she was a rural school teacher at west of Pelican Rapids. On July 6, 1940, she married Norman Kragrud at the Hedemarken Church, rural Carlisle, MN. In addition to raising her family, she was employed at the Singer Sewing Center, O’Meara’s Department Store, and Bible Book and Gift Store. She was the Director of Parish Education at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, retiring in 1977. Inga served as a Camp Fire Leader, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, Circle Bible Study Leader, and was active in the Women of the ELCA. She also volunteered at the Otter Tail County Historical Society, and was a Resident Activities Volunteer at the Pioneer Retirement Home. In her retirement, she knitted several hundred three-piece layette sets for the Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and gifted many friends and family members with handmade Norwegian hardanger embroidery. Survivors include her daughters: Nancy Aune (Dennis Lebakken) of Buffalo, MN, Judy (Harlan) Lysne of Fergus Falls, and Virginia (Mark) Ronning of Fergus Falls; four grandchildren: Karina (Jason) Carney of Minnetonka, MN, Jennifer Lysne of Eden Prairie, MN, Kirsten (Mark) Suda of Fargo, ND, and Carl Ronning of Fergus Falls; six great-grandchildren: Alexander Carney, and Catherene, Allison, Felicity, Michael and Joshua Suda; two siblings: C. Arthur Fosse of Rothsay, and Agnes Bowman of Fergus Falls; five nephews: Don Bowman, Ronald Fosse, Paul Fosse, James Kragerud, and Robert Kragerud; and six nieces: Barbara Fosse, Diane Houge, Marilyn LaRue, Neveda Anderson, Annette Stephenson, and Janice Grouws. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Norman, in 1966; a brother, Frederick Fosse; a niece, Mary (Kragerud) Rice; and four nephews: Orlyn Kragerud, Richard Fosse, Charles Fosse, and Tom Fosse.
