Ida Mae Bjorgum, 100, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Ida Mae was born in Dane Prairie Township on January 17, 1919, to Hans and Anna (Tollefson) Jensen. She was baptized and confirmed at Tordenskjold Lutheran Church in rural Underwood. She attended School District 43 and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1938.
On January 7, 1940, she married Harold Melborne Bjorgum at Tordenskjold Lutheran Church. The couple resided and farmed in Dane Prairie Township and Buse Township. In the early 1970’s they retired from farm life and moved to Fergus Falls. Ida Mae also worked at The Ranch House and Beckers Supper Club as a waitress before retiring in 1978.
She was a loyal member of First Lutheran Church where she was an avid quilter and member of the Women’s Circle. She also belonged to the Friendship Club in Fergus Falls. Ida Mae enjoyed bowling, traveling, gardening, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, bingo, puzzles and the Minnesota Twins. She read her bible daily and shared her faith with all of those around her. She will be remembered for her wit, delicious pies and baked goods, and love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; sisters, Francis Jensen, Blanche Binegar and Margaret Bjorgum and brothers, Henry, Helmer and Arnold Jensen.
Ida Mae is survived by her children, Alyn (Kathy) of Fergus Falls, Dean (Jill) of Fergus Falls, Gary of Maple Plain, Bonnie (Marlo) Neuleib of Greensboro, GA and Wanda (Jim) Hough of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Mary, Tom, Anita, Wendy, Mark, Denise, Gina, Brian, Anna, Robert, Patrick, Katherine “the General”, Ian and Maddie Mae; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and sister, Dorothy Retotar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
Service: 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2019, at PioneerCare Celebration Center in Fergus Falls.
