Hilda Hennig

Hilda Alma Anna Hennig, 95, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls. She was born November 11, 1914, at her home in Elizabeth Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Anna (Ladwig) and Walter H. Drechsel. She grew up in the area, was confirmed in May of 1928 at Trinity Lutheran Church, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. On August 4, 1935, she married Vernon Hennig of Foxhome in Detroit, Michigan, where he was employed at Sealtest Creamery. They lived in Dearborn, Michigan where they raised their two daughters. Vernon and Hilda moved back to Fergus Falls in 1946 where they owned and operated Broadway Market until 1962, and then lived in Richfield, Minnesota until 1973. They retired to Heilberger Lake where they enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sightseeing. Hilda most recently lived at Alcott Manor in Fergus Falls. Preceding her in death were her husband, Vernon, her parents, Walter and Anna Drechsel, her brother, Edward (Lucy) Drechsel, a brother-in-law, Clarence and sister-in-law Iola Hennig, and sister-in-law Florence and brother-in-law Verl Beller. Survivors include her daughters, Sidonna (Norman) Bradow of Fergus Falls, and Diann Hennig of Minnetonka; four grandchildren: JoLynn (Mike) Beyer, Timothy (Renee) Bradow, Brian Lebakken and Craig (Sue) Lebakken; ten great-grandchildren: Nichole Jorgenson Jason Jorgenson, Justin and Jenna Beyer, Matthew and Grant Bradow, and Jay, Kurt, Marit and Evan Lebakken, and a nephew, Robert (Lynn) Drechsel and their children Megan and Sarah.
