Henry T. Stock, 97, a resident of Fergus Falls died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
Henry Thomas Stock was the second of nine children born to Herman W. and Clarice (Iverson) Stock on May 29, 1918 in Western Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Western Township. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1936. On November 11, 1942 he was married to Marie Gjerde. After their marriage they became lifetime members of Western Presbyterian Church. They raised their five children in Western Township.
Henry was an active farmer from high school graduation through 2010. In 1946, Henry participated in the “Massey – Harris Harvest Brigade.” Henry continued to harvest wheat throughout the Great Plains, completing his last harvest in Oklahoma and Kansas after his 80th birthday in 1998. Henry’s work ethic was not lost on his family or the many employees who worked alongside him.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Marie; his grandson, Matthew Stock; four brothers: Arnold, Addison, Stanley and Gene; and three of his four sisters: Helen, Dorothy and Joyce.
He is survived by his five children: Mary Ellen Johnson of Burnsville, Minnesota, Norma Jean (Stan) Shaw of Santa Barbara, California, Diane (Bradley) Miller of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, David (Deborah) Stock of Fergus Falls and Jane Marie (Cornel) Walker of Galveston, Texas; twelve grandchildren: Stephen and Christopher Johnson, Sydney Gardner and Stanford Shaw, Dana Hedin, Brian and Eric Miller, Leisha Coleman, Jennifer Frank and Justin Stock, Maria Ibarra and Charles Steen; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister LaVerne Mieska; sisters-in-law: Joyce Stock, Pat Stock, Bettee Woodburn and Bonnie Gjerde; and a brother in law, Bob Gjerde; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice, Fergus Falls.
Visitation: 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, July 10th with public prayer service at 6:00PM at the Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 10:30 AM on Saturday July, 11th at Federated Church in Fergus Falls.
