Henry Holte

Henry R. Holte, 87, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. Hank was born June 25, 1920, in Tumuli Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Turi (Ronnigen) Holte. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church. He attended country school at Ten Mile Lake. On July 16, 1944, he married Evelyn Wegner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They lived in Fergus Falls until 1946 when they moved to a farm in Buse Township. In 1992 they moved back to Fergus Falls. He hauled milk for the creamery in Fergus Falls, and then farmed. In 1966 he went to work for the Regional Treatment Center, got his GED and an LPN degree. He retired in 1983. He was active in church, the Lions, Meals-by-Wheels, the Food Shelf, and helping his children with various projects. On July 2, 2003, he married Adeline Oscarson at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He was honored to become Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa to Adeline's family. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Evelyn, in 2002, an infant son, Ronald, and two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Adeline, of Fergus Falls; six children: Jan (Bob) Mittelstadt of Campbell, Warren (Carrie) Holte of Glenwood, Douglas (Nancy) Holte of Glyndon, Dennis Oscarson of New Brunswick, Canada, Diane Johnson of Battle Lake, and Jan (Michael) Zaragoza of San Diego, CA; ten grandchildren: Melissa (Todd) Hastings, Aurali (Damon) Dade, Turi (Mikel) Taylor, Sarah Holte, Adam Holte, Chris (Tatum) Johnson, Angela (Todd) Cross, Julianna Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, and Mary Oscarson; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Thorness of Braham, MN, and a brother, Nobel Holte of Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls Clergy: Reverend D.
