Helmer Breeton

Helmer John Breeton, 90, a resident of Underwood, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. He was born April 6, 1921, at home in Koochiching County, Minnesota, the son of Hans and Selma (Borgen) Breeton. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. Helmer was inducted into the U. S. Army on July 10, 1942, serving until 1943. On April 27, 1996 he married Gladys Obright at the Maine Presbyterian Church in rural Underwood, Minnesota. They made their home in Underwood. Over the years, Helmer was employed with Lyon Chemical Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, and playing whist and cribbage. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Christine and Bertha, and a seven year old daughter, Barbara. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Breeton of Underwood; his children: William (Nadine) Breeton of Littlefork, MN, Beverly (James) Moorhead of International Falls, MN, and Robert Breeton of Monroe, GA; his grandchildren: Deanna (Donald) Wilson of Minneapolis, MN, Aaron Breeton of Chicago, IL, Jimella (Eric) Detweiler of Eureka, IL, Michelle (Troy) Diercks of Calamus, IA, Sheila (Jay) Schlechte of Oakdale, MN, and David (Jane) Moorhead of Warroad, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Donald Wilson, Katy Grace Detweiler, Jacob Diercks, Matthew Diercks, Sidney Moorhead, Samuel Moorhead, and Jingyan Schlechte; and numerous stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Maine Presbyterian Church, rural Underwood Clergy: Reverend Glenn Lord Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
