Hazel Mathilda Kronemann

April 25, 1917 — December 12, 2015

Hazel Mathilda Kronemann, 98, of Fergus Falls, died on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.

Hazel was born on April 25, 1917, on the family farm west of Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Edor and Christine (Nettestad) Christianson. She attended country school until eighth grade. She then did house work for many families in the area before her marriage.

On April 12, 1939, she married Herbert Kronemann at Ringsaker Church, currently known as Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. They started their life together on the Kronemann Family Farm, north of Fergus Falls, where they raised their family.

Hazel was a dedicated farm wife, a wonderful mother and homemaker, who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and sewing. She started work for Thom Linen in 1972 and retired twenty years later. In 1973, Herb and Hazel moved from the farm to Fergus Falls.

In her later years, Hazel enjoyed having coffee with friends, playing cards, dancing, watching the Minnesota Twins and embroidering dish towels for her family. She was a member of the Fergus Falls Senior Citizen Center, Fergus Homemakers, Neighborhood Card Club, the Lake Region Hospital Auxiliary and First Lutheran Church since 1939.

Hazel was a strong Christian woman who read her Bible daily. She prayed out loud nightly for her family and looked to the Lord for guidance. Her family was her greatest joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edor and Christine Christianson; her husband, Herb in 1980; three sons, David in infancy, Charles in 2002, and Rodney in 2012; two brothers, Clifford and Berthel Christianson; two sisters, Edna Hole and Maxine Mueller; and a special friend, Edwin Pederson.

Hazel is survived by her four children, Ilene (Jim) Rude of Richville, Debbie (Tom) Nogosek of Lisbon, ND, Mike (Linda) Kronemann of Fergus Falls and Sandy (Daryl) Buchholz of Shakopee; two daughters-in-law, Darlene Kronemann of Bradenton, FL and Diane Kronemann of Salem, OR; twelve grandchildren, Brian (Annette) Rude, Brad (Heidi) Rude, Blaine (Tiffany) Rude, Trevor (Melanie) Kronemann, Tisha (Tim) Conaway, Jason (Cheri) Weber, Ashley (Justin) Duckwitz, Sam (Rachel) Kronemann, Paige Kronemann, Marcy (Patrick) Watts, Erik Bagley and Amy Buchholz; her great-grandchildren, Megan and Rachel Rude, Max and Hannah Rude, Alex and Peyton Rude, Tyler and Jordan Glidden, Anika, Nadia and Nikolas Kronemann, Raegan Kronemann, C.J. and Elliot Conaway, Atley Duckwitz, and Heather and Michaela Albrecht; her sister-in-law, Ethel (Phil) Thompson; a special nephew DuWayne (Donna) Christianson; and several other nieces and nephews.
