Harvey O. Brause, 85, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, January 09, 2014 at the Broen Memorial Home.
Harvey was born on January 31, 1928 in Western Township, the son of Harvey and Margaret (Floden) Brause. He grew up in Western Township and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. In April of 1946 he entered the United States Army and served in Japan during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in September of 1947 he returned to Fergus Falls, where he began farming.
In April of 1953 he married Joyce Sethre in Fairmount, ND. The couple continued to farm while raising their 4 children.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, travelling, camping and reading. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He loved being a part of his grandchildren’s lives and never missed being at any of their activities.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Rodney.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Fergus Falls; children, Laurie (Paul) Lekang of Wahpeton, ND, Shary (Jeff) Loeks of Campbell, MN, Bonnie (Rob) Welter of Palm Coast, FL, Brad (Cheri) Brause of Fergus Falls; 8 grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Deyle, Lara Lekang, Jordan (Emily) Loeks, Josiah Loeks, Christina Welter, Christopher (Tisha) Welter, Billie Jo Brause, Jessie Brause; five great-grandchildren, Josie and Audrey Deyle, Tristan, Justin and Ashton Welter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Light and Life Auditorium at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls.
