Harris Iverson

March 9, 1926 — February 21, 2009

Harris Wayne Iverson, age 82, of Alexandria, passed away February 21, 2009, at Triumph Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Harris was born March 9, 1926, in Elmo Township near Parkers Prairie, the son of Syver and Florence (Barker) Iverson. He attended school at Henning, Minnesota. Harris served his country in the United States Air Force. On April 25, 1947, Harris was united in marriage to Marian Schreiber in Fergus Falls, MN. The couple resided on the family farm in Western Township of Otter Tail County from 1947 to 1965 where they farmed until Harris joined the Otter Tail County Assessor’s office. In 1971 they moved to Alexandria where he continued his work in the assessing field in both Douglas County and Stevens County. After his retirement from Stevens County, he delivered newspapers for the Echo Press until he retired AGAIN at 80 years old. Harris loved to travel with Marian and other family members and they took many trips to all parts of the United States and Canada. He especially enjoyed his workshop, camping, fishing, and hunting. Preceding him in death were his parents, Syver and Florence Iverson, and three brothers, Sheldon, Lester, and Lloyd. Survivors include his wife, Marian, of Alexandria; his brother, Clifton Iverson, of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Irene Mathiason of Belgrade, MN, and Violet Lien of Moorhead, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews, and his family cat, Zander.
