Harold Raymond Erickson, 84 passed away peacefully at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND on July 19th, 2022.
Harold was born in Fergus Falls, MN on April 13th, 1938, to Raymond and Helyn (Bevins) Erickson.
On August 24th, 1957, Harold married Carol Ann Maier at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN. Together they raised four children and traveled from base to base during Harold’s 20-year career in the Air Force.
Harold enlisted in the Air Force at 17 years old. He was an airborne radio operator who flew on rescue planes during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved his family back to his hometown, Fergus Falls. After retiring again from working as a cable installer, Harold and Carol moved to Las Vegas, NV to enjoy the warmer weather and to be close to an Air Force Base.
He loved traveling back to Minnesota every July, drinking beer, watching John Wayne movies, listening to Country music, deer hunting, making all kinds of beef jerky, and pampering their poodles.
Harold returned to Minnesota three years ago. He was currently a resident at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home, where he was taken very good care of.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Carol in 2008; his daughter, Alice in 1998; his parents; his sister, Sandy, and his brother, Norman.
Harold will be missed by his family: Daughter, Deb (Keith) Johnson of Alexandria, MN; Sons, Ray (Vicki) Erickson of Fergus Falls, MN and Eric (Sonia) Erickson of Tucson, AZ; Grandchildren, Shawn (Bob) Olson, Ashley (Patrick Amelung), Glenn Johnson, Nicole (Dan) Gaines, Nathan (Jeanette) Erickson, Kelsey (Andy) Larsen, Theresa (Gabe) Poling, Joshua Erickson, Stacey (Brandon) Bahmann, Karlie (Jake) Hoekstra, and James (Erin) Hustad; 23 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-grandchild on the way, and 1 Great-great-grandchild on the way.
Graveside Military Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27th, 2022 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls. A picnic lunch following the service will be held at the Pebble Lake Picnic Shelter.
