Harold Busko

Harold Busko Sr., 92, a resident of Battle Lake, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by the care of his family and Lakeland Hospice. He was born August 5, 1920, in Fergus Falls, the son of George and Rosa Mary (Boschke) Busko. He attended school in District 31, rural Fergus Falls. On January 7, 1950, he married Geneva Williams at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls. Throughout his life, Harold farmed in Aastad Township and driving tractor was his joy. He also enjoyed hunting, trapping, playing accordion music, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold was a former member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls and was most recently a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake. He served in the United States Military in the Asiatic Pacific from June 18, 1942 to June 19, 1944 some of which was in the Marshall Islands from February 1, 1944 until April 5, 1944. Preceding him in death were his parents; his siblings, Rose, Mary, Margaret, Ann, John, George, Michael, Steve, Frank, and Joseph. Survivors include his wife, Geneva of Battle Lake; his children Teresa (Dave) Urlacher of Bowman, ND, Jeffrey (Denise) Busko of Fergus Falls, Diana (Logan) Silha of Bowman, ND, Harold (Julie) Busko, Jr. of Fergus Falls, Jane Busko of Fargo, ND, and Joanne (Jeffrey) Poehls of Sabin; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to Our Lady of the Lake Building Fund or Lakeland Hospice. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Battle Lake, MN Clergy: Father Leroy Schik Burial: Private family burial will take place at a later date at St. Otto’s Catholic Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN Military Participation: Fergus Falls V.F.W. and American Legion  Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
