Harold Brynteson

July 24, 1918 — March 30, 2013

Harold Brynteson, age 94, died peacefully March 30, 2013 under the care of Lakeland Hospice at the home of his daughter in Fergus Falls, MN. He was born July 24, 1918 in Chicago IL to Swedish immigrants, Hilmer and Ada Brynteson. He grew up in Chicago where he received his education. He had fond memories of spending one year in Sweden at the age of 10 when his mother returned to care for her parents. He was fluent in the Swedish language.

He dedicated his life to Jesus as a teenager and very faithfully served and loved his Lord. He studied for the ministry in Chicago and in 1943 at the age of 25 went to Minnesota where he pastored his first church in Clearbrook/Bagley. Over the next 13 years he pastored churches in Illinois, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. He returned to Minnesota in 1956 where he pastored in Montevideo and Breckenridge until his retirement in 1980. After growing up in the city, he loved country life and open country spaces.

On October 23, 1937 he married Evelyn Doosvand of Chicago, IL. and had three sons and two daughters. Music was a great part of his life and ministry. In his early ministry years he sang lead in several male quartets. As a self taught musician he played many instruments including piano, guitar, mandolin, violin and sax. He also was a self taught carpenter. He did remodeling as well as the building of many new homes to supplement his income. He worked very hard to provide for his family and no job was too small or too complicated for him to consider. His business ethics were much to be admired.

After his retirement, he and Evelyn spent the next 25 years traveling the country in their travel trailer visiting family and using his carpentry skills to help individuals wherever they went.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Evelyn who passed away in 2009 after 71 years of marriage and one sister, Margaret. Since the death of his wife, he has divided his time between GA and MN living with his two daughters

He is survived by 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. They include:
