Harlin Johnson, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Lakeland Hospice House. Harlin was born December 13, 1920 in Orwell Township, rural Fergus Falls at the home of his parents, George L. and Clara I. (Nehring) Johnson. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Western Township and was later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He attended school for eight years in Orwell Township's District #252. In 1971, he earned his GED in Fergus Falls. Harlin married Delores M. Glorvigen on September 19, 1943 at Bethelehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN. He became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church at this time. During his life, he farmed in Orwell Township and later was employed at the Regional Treatment Center for twenty-one years, retiring in 1986. Over the years he enjoyed bowling, baseball and watching his Grandsons' sports. Harlin volunteered as a driver for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels and was a board member of Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Preceding him in death were his parents, one grandchild, four great-grandchildren and his brother, Elton Johnson. Survivors include his wife Delores, three children: Peter Johnson of Battle Lake and friend Jan Sander, Jerry (Sharon) Johnson of Fergus Falls, and Nancy (Steve) Loeffler of Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren: Luke (Genie) Loeffler, Eric Loeffler, Todd Johnson, Travis (Lynn) Johnson, Terence (Kris) Johnson, Shawn (Shannon) Johnson, Holly Sterns, Blake (Jan) Johnson, and Brent Johnson; fifteen great-grandchildren: two great-great grandchildren: brother Loran (Gerry) Johnson of Fergus Falls: and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice or the organization of the donor's choice. Reviewal: 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Olson Funeral Home.
