Gyda Quam, 95, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, MN.
She was born June 6, 1919, to Martin and Gunda (Moen) Floen. She was baptized at Nidaros Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended school in Vining, MN.
On January 27, 1940, she married Raymond Quam. They farmed in Vining until moving to Fergus Falls in 1945. After raising her five children, she worked as a nursing assistant at Broen Memorial and Pioneer nursing homes, retiring in 1989. Gyda was a fun-loving person and welcomed friends and family to visit over coffee. She enjoyed preparing fresh baked goodies for those occasions. She was proud of her family and surrounded herself with their pictures. She has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1945.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ray; son, Russell; daughter, Eileen Sandra; brothers, Thony, Thorfin, Eddie, Obert, David, Mervin and Eugene; sisters, Alma Peterson, Ruth Lundby Salmonson; Amanda Erickson, Martha Fisher Bickford and Naomi Johnson.
She is survived by sons, Robert (Aletha), Neil and Douglas all of Fergus Falls; daughter-in-law, Kathy Quam of Cottage Grove; grandchildren, Darren Quam, Kerstin (Mario) Cárdenas, Scott (Teresa) Quam, Beth Quam, Heather Osborn, Jennifer Lemke, Jason (Andrea) Berube; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Loretta (Jim) Gausted and nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls

Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls
