Gretchen A. Folsom, 97, a resident of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, September 28, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes.
Gretchen was born on April 25, 1915 in Wahkon, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Ella (Heitman) Morneau. She grew up and attended school in Ogilvie, graduating from Ogilvie High School.
On October 25, 1937 she married Robert Earl Folsom in Foreston, Minnesota. She was a housewife and mother to her four children. She also worked as a nurse’s aide.
Gretchen and Dan Fiala were married September 5, 1998, at St. Mary’s Parish in Milaca, Minnesota.
She was a member of the V. F.W. Auxiliary, FireFlies, and friend of Crosier. She enjoyed baking, clogging and dancing.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and husbands, Robert Sr., and Dan.
Survivors include her children, Father Paul Folsom of Battle Lake, Cathy (Dave) Ross of Brainerd, Robert (Rannae) Folsom Jr. of New Brighton, and Margie (Pat) Stoy of Detroit Lakes; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Tony, Mark, Rob, Amy, Katie, Heather, Dan, and Sean; and ten great-grandchildren, Jasmyne, Connor, Riley, Ashton, Sara, Robbie, Ryan, Ella, Henry, and Adyson. Also surviving are extended family and friends.

Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012 with prayers at 5 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Battle Lake, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church.
