Gregory Storeim

Gregory R. “Greg” Storeim, 62, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at his home under the care of Lakeland Hospice. He was born December 27, 1949, in Ortonville, Minnesota. He grew up in Ortonville, attending James Knoll Elementary School, and Ortonville High School, graduating in 1967. After graduation, Greg’s family moved to Fergus Falls. In 1972 Greg married Jeanne Felton of Big Stone City, SD. Greg and Jeanne managed Felton’s Resort on Rush Lake, and Greg was a fishing guide in the Otter Tail Lakes area. They moved to Laporte, MN and opened the Storeim Shelter Bar. Greg was also a real estate agent and served as Mayor of Laporte. Greg married Suzette Cooper of Laporte in 1981 and together they raised three children, Angela, Ryan and Kate. In 1986 they moved to Olympia, WA where Greg worked as a real estate developer for the logging industry. Greg returned to Fergus Falls in 1999. Together with his girlfriend, Deane Williams, they purchased Greg’s family home where they owned and operated The Olde Mill Homestead, an adult foster care home. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, golf, and gardening. He enjoyed woodworking, watching NASCAR and reading mysteries. Greg was a lifelong lover of dogs, but his greatest love was his family. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Katherine Storeim. Survivors include Deane Williams and her son, Jeremy Williams (Jennifer Yost) and Dee’s grandchildren Jenna and Jillian Williams; his children, and granddaughter, Aurora of Olympia, WA; sisters: Karen (Jerry) Huber of Minnetonka, Patty (Jim) Lampy of Piedmont, SD, Laurie (Curt) Tomhave of Minneapolis, and Marcia (Kevin) Newborg of Fergus Falls; brother, John Storeim of Fergus Falls; nieces and nephews: Loy, Chris, Megan, Jacob, Rachel, Sean, MaKenna and Logan; and his beloved pets Harley Robert and Hattie Marie. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a public prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls. Clergy: Reverend Bob Kandels Burial: 3 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Mound Cemetery, Ortonville, MN. Following the committal service Friday, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Ortonville Municipal Golf Course at 3:30 p.m. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
