Grace Long, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Grace was born in Perry, GA, on August 26, 1926, one of twelve children born to David P. and Eslie (Long) Leaptrot. She attended school, but had to go to work after her father died when she was twelve.
On May 21, 1949, Grace married Albert Long in Perry, GA. In May of 1952, the couple moved to Fergus Falls, where she worked as a waitress at the Skogmo Café. Grace may have lived in Minnesota for over fifty years, but she always kept her southern drawl and hospitality. She was very proud of her southern roots.
Grace enjoyed life. She will probably be best remembered for her gift to gab. She enjoyed flowers, animals, especially dogs and cats, and loved to shop with her grandchildren. Grace was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Eslie Leaptrot; and eleven siblings.
Grace is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Albert Long of Fergus Falls; a son, Bob Long of Fergus Falls; a daughter, Cindy (Rick) Kressin of Breckenridge; five grandchildren, Katelynn, Paige and Jack Kressin, Ashley Schleske, and Taylor Long; four great-grandchildren, Tucker, Cooper, Gunner and Sawyer Schleske; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
