Gladys Kowalski, 100, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at PioneerCare, Fergus Falls.
She was born July 18, 1913, in Slayton, MN, the daughter of Thomas and Inga (Vatne) Knutson. She was baptized by Reverend A. J. Bergsaker in Slayton and confirmed at South Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Rothsay, by Reverend H. Bjorson. When she was six years old she moved with her family to the Rothsay area in Trondhjiem Township where she attended rural school district 83.
On September 14, 1937, she married Martin Kowalski of Fergus Falls. She worked at Wrights Hospital on special diets and also at Park Region Bakery. She enjoyed music, dancing and painting.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon (Dolly) Kowalski of Foxhome and Richard (Linda) Kowalski of Wahpeton, ND; one daughter, Audrey Pratte of Minnetonka; a brother, Vernon (Dorothy) Knutson of Fergus Falls; five sisters-in-law, Mable, Marion, Murial, Dorothy and Delores Knutson; grandchildren, Jon Kowalski of Chicago, Ill, Mike Kowalski of Virginia, MN, Teri Gentile of Minnetonka, Lynn LaFountain of Dallas, TX, Pamela Kowalski of San Diego, CA, Eric Pratte of Pinehurst, NC, and Joshua Kowalski of Battle Ground, WA; step grandchildren, Corey, Scott and Todd Morse; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Aidan, Carie, Rosie, Rebecca, Stefanie, Karly, Travis and Sierra and step great-grandchildren, , Connor, Jessica, Chase, Owen, and Cassie.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a son, David; an infant daughter, Diane and five brothers, Clarence, Albert, Ted, Ingwald and Ingard Knutson.
