Gertrude Louise Haslerud, 87, a resident of Rothsay, died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Elim Rehab and Care Center in Fargo, ND.
Gertrude was born on March 30, 1929, to George and Annie (Waasdorp) Linck in Breckenridge. She attended country school at District # 23 through eighth grade in Sunnyside Township.
On February 2, 1953 Gertrude married Harry Haslerud at the parsonage in Rothsay. She worked as a housekeeper, but was mostly a homemaker when her children were at home. Later on she worked at Norton’s Bakery, Min-Dak Co-Op in Wahpeton from 1974 to 1978, and then in 1979, she began working at the Min-Dak Factory and worked there until her retirement in 1994.
Gertrude was a member of Hamar/New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay and participated in many different circles throughout the years. She enjoyed making quilts, and loved to cook, bake, read and watch television. She also spent many hours caring for her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Annie Linck; her husband, Harry Haslerud in 2004; a sister, Mabel Reisdorfor; and grandson, Dale Larson.
Gertrude is survived by her daughters, Sharon (John) Ackert of Rothsay and Karen (Steven) Cooley of Eldred; eight grandchildren, Christina Larson, Bobby Ackert (Michelle), Billy (Jenn) Ackert, David Ackert (Jami), Kathryn Cooley (Vez), Elizabeth (Kyle) Hensrud, Samuel Cooley and Daniel (Jordan) Cooley; nine great-grandchildren, Cody, Megan, Justin, Toni, Johnny, Roy, Logan, Gracie and Emma; a sister, Mildred Moe of New Brighton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at New Life Lutheran Church with a public prayer service at 6:30 PM.
