Gertrude Emma Atkinson, 91, of Jamestown, ND, and formerly of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, North Dakota. She was born September 1, 1919, in Bordulac, North Dakota, the daughter of George and Lyda (Butts) Yeo. Her father worked for the Soo Line Railroad, so the family lived in various places in North Dakota. She graduated from high school in Cathay, North Dakota. She then attended Beauty School in Fargo. On May 18, 1941, she married Shirley E. Atkinson in Barrett, Minnesota. Her husband was in the Army, and the couple lived in Colorado Springs. Upon his discharge they moved to Valley City, North Dakota, and later Miles City, Montana, where they worked in the family rendering business. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1953. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and served as a volunteer at Lake Region Hospital. Gertrude loved flowers, children, animals, and traveling and camping. Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Clyde Yeo; and her husband, Shirley in 1982. Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Allen) Pergande of Jamestown, ND; a granddaughter, Karisti Pergande of Fargo; one sister, Helen (Donovan) Olson of Fergus Falls; a sister-in-law, Lucille Lysne of Willmar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
