Gerald Richter

Gerald Dale Richter, 69, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was born May 14, 1942, in Gary, Indiana, the son of Otto and Corinne (Boen) Richter. He grew up in Aurdal Township. He attended school at Districts #12, #247, Underwood, and Morris. While in school he played football and basketball. On December 26, 1975, he married Helen Moen, and had eight stepchildren. Jerry worked for Mark Sand and Gravel for many years until he retired. In recent years he did the road blading for Friberg Township, taking great pride in doing an excellent job. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching and feeding the birds, the Minnesota Vikings, and visiting with family and friends. His yard was always kept up beautifully. Jerry also loved his dogs. Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Sharon Rund; a niece Sheila Grothe; a step-grandson, Kristopher Boen; a step-great-grandson, Parker Krog; and his grandparents: Ida and Gustav Boen, and Otto and Bertha Richter. Survivors include his wife, Helen Richter of Fergus Falls, and his stepchildren: Ronald (Rita) Krog of Fergus Falls, Donna (Steve) Hauge of Fergus Falls, Gerald (Deanne) Krog of Fergus Falls, Larry (Diane) Krog of Fergus Falls, Susan Asplin of Tampa, Florida, Janice Boen of Fergus Falls, Joyce (Terry) Detjen of Grand Rapids, MN, and Terry Krog of Fergus Falls. He had numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Donna (Jim) Thunselle of Fergus Falls, his brother-in-law, Geoffrey Rund of Dalton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
