Gayle Beecher

Battle Lake

Gayle H. Beecher, 92, a resident of Battle Lake, died Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Barrett Care Facility in Barrett, Minnesota.

He was born January 4, 1932 in Williston, ND, the son of Les and Opal (Roed) Beecher. He attended primary school in Williston and high school in Fergus Falls, graduating in 1948. 

On August 10, 1952, he married Ruth Ellen Ranstad in Battle Lake. Subsequently, Gayle joined the Air Force and was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. He and Ruth made their home there for four years and both their children were born in Biloxi. After discharge from the Air Force the couple moved to North Dakota and Gayle continued his education at the State School of Science, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation he secured employment at 3M Company in St, Paul. The couple then moved to White Bear Lake where they raised their family. After retiring from 3M, they moved back to Battle Lake and moved into Ruth's family home.

Gayle enjoyed hunting, canoeing and bird watching. He was a member of the Audubon Society, and on the Board of Directors of Glendalough State Park during its early years. After leaving the park board, he remained an active volunteer, leading nature hikes and was involved with the Monarch Tagging Program.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Ruth Ellen, his son, Steven G. Beecher, Stillwater, MN, his parents and two sisters Betty Lou Bartz (Lowell) Billings, MT and Roxie Bachman, Sebeka, MN. 

He is survived by his daughter Ellen B. Reierson, Battle Lake, MN, his grandsons Benjamin J. Reierson, Melboune, Australia and Alexander K. Reierson, Farmington, MN, and his sister, Sandee (Mark) Larson, Havre, MT.

A private family service was held.
