Gary Allen Seeck, 66, a resident of Erhard, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo.
Gary was born on June 16, 1947 in Fergus Falls, MN, the son of Arthur and Alice (Hanson) Seeck. He lived in Battle Lake and moved to Fergus Falls when he was 7 years old. He attended school in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1965. After graduation he entered the United States Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor for 3 years and Adak, Alaska for 6 months. Gary was never served on a ship, since his job was in Naval Aviation, as a parachute rigger. He enjoyed his job because it allowed him the opportunity to parachute jump, sometimes flying on dangerous missions over the Vietnam coast.
Upon discharge from the Navy, he moved to Minneapolis where he met Nancy Tchida. The couple was married on November 14, 1970 in New Brighton, MN. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1976, then to Wall Lake and in 1990 they moved to rural Erhard. Gary spent many years working for Mid Am Dairy as a boilerman.
He enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with his family and friends. He had an adventuresome spirit and loved to travel the roads less travelled by motorcycle, RV or car.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Edwards; daughter, Rachel (Scott) Jaeger of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Nancy, Hana and Kate Jaeger; brother, Wayne Seeck of Fergus Falls. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored, but had a special place in his heart for his niece, Amy.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Tonseth Lutheran Church, rural Erhard with Reverend Darrell Saathoff officiating. Military participation will be by Fergus Falls V.F.W. Post 612 and American Legion #30.
