G. Esther Esser, 93, of Mill Street Residence, Fergus Falls, died Friday, September 12, 2014, at PioneerCare, Fergus Falls under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
She was born in Grand Rapids, MN, on June 21, 1921, to Henry and Catherine (Scherrer) Kanz. She attended school in Lynd, MN graduating in 1939 as salutatorian. During the World War II years, she worked for NW Bell Co. in Marshall, MN.
On August 21, 1946, she married Therald Esser. They farmed near Milroy, MN for twelve years before moving to a farm near Fergus Falls. Esther was a member of the Federated Church and enjoyed taking part in all of their activities. Her greatest joys were tending her flower garden and being with her family. She was a good cook and seamstress, canned produce, enjoyed playing cards, and she was a very gracious lady.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Therald, and nine siblings.
Survivors include her children, Elaine (Greg) Davidson of Galt, CA, and John (June) Esser of Richville, MN; grandchildren, Lee (Mark) Anderson, Todd Bartel (Kera Thibodeau), Jennifer Esser, and Mike (Keri) Esser; great-grandchildren, Izik and Bailey Bartel, Isabelle, Annalise and Emerson Esser and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 11 am. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Federated Church, Fergus Falls
