Frieda Johanna Miller, 99, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, August 16, 2010, at the PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls. She was born May 12, 1911, at the Hensch homestead in Western Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Johanna (Kohnke) Hensch Sr. On September 27, 1933, she married Clarence C. Miller at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Western Township. Frieda’s life was devoted to being a housewife, farmer’s wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Over the years she served as a Sunday school teacher, was a member of the LWML Ladies Circle, and did quilting for missions. She delivered Meals-on-Wheels to the shut-ins through 90 years of age. Frieda loved baking and cooking, and was especially known for her bun making. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, gardening, her house plants, quilting for family, and in her younger years, ice skating. She made quilts for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Clarence, her daughter, Diane Knopf, her son-in-law, Gary Bradow, her great-granddaughter, Angel Knopf, four brothers, Otto, Herman, Albert, and Henry Hensch, and a sister, Louise Kruse. Survivors include three daughters, Martha (Milo) Smith of Libby, MT, JoAnn (Gary) Wendt of Moorhead, MN, and Norma Bradow of Fergus Falls; 12 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
