Frieda D. Miller, 97, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls.
She was born January 11, 1917, in Fergus Falls Township to Max C. and Wilhelmine (Holthusen) Kronemann and was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Elizabeth.
Frieda attended grade school at country school District 92 and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1934. In 1937, she worked at the Fergus Falls State Hospital for eight months before her marriage on November 22, 1937, to Merton Asleson of Wendell. They had one daughter, Karen, and farmed for many years in the Wendell area. Merton died July 17, 1975.
On June 24, 1978, she married Harold A. Miller and continued to work at the State Hospital, retiring on July 31, 1980. She and Harold took many trips across the United States and Canada and in 1973, she and her sister-in-law, Luella, flew to Norway, Germany, Holland and Denmark.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, Eagle’s Auxiliary, AARP and Y’s Folks. She and Harold were social directors of Sons of Norway for two years.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Merton in 1975 and Harold, who died on February 4, 1996; her parents; her daughter, Karen Wienbar; brothers, Max Jr., Herbert, Arthur, Edmond and Waldemar; sisters, Esther Schroeder, Ruth Peterson, Emma Lundell and Evelyn Asleson.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Les Wienbar of Redfield, SD; three grandchildren, Bradley (Mary) Wienbar of Iroquois, SD, Gregory Wienbar of Redfield, SD, and Kimberly Wienbar of Pierre, SD; five great-grandchildren, Mathew (April Smythe) Wienbar of Beresford, SD, Annie (Kevin) Schaefer of Colman, SD, Leah Wienbar of Mitchell, SD, Chad Jungwirth of Minneapolis, MN, and Lindsey (Jim) Costello of Omaha, NE; two great-great-grandchildren, Raine Wienbar of Beresford, SD and Brielle Schafer of Colman, SD; a brother, Kenneth Kronemann of Fergus Falls, and two sisters, Ethel (Phil) Thompson and Irene Eckley all of Fergus Falls.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church
