Frederick Peterson

Frederick Maynard Peterson, 78, of Fergus Falls, MN, died Friday, February 13, 2009, at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids. He was born June 17, 1930, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Fred and Ella (Carlsrud) Peterson. On June 26, 1951, he married Ellen Hilgers, of Barnesville, MN. For many years they made their home outside of Rothsay, MN and later moved to Fergus Falls, MN. Maynard farmed for many years as well as hauled hay for Virgil Western (Rothsay, MN) and did custom combining around the area. He retired from farming in 1966. In addition he also worked numerous road construction jobs throughout Minnesota and North Dakota, including the Interstate 94 project. He’s worked for Johnson Brothers Construction, Abbott, Arnie and Schwindt, and Kost Brothers. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, a former member of the Rothsay Sno-Tigers snowmobile club, and served as a committee member of A.S.C.S. Maynard loved to hunt and fish as well as restore old tractors. Throughout his life he was devoted to his wife and family. Maynard is survived by his children: Joan Hovland of Phoenix, AZ, Colleen (Gary) Brusven of Eden Valley, MN, Mary (Tom) Jensen of Rothsay, MN, Marvin (Joyce) Peterson of Rothsay, MN, Karen Molby of Wahpeton, ND, and Paul (Melissa) Peterson of Phoenix, AZ, his sisters, Ruth Honrud, of Erhard, MN, and Fern Bjoralt of Fergus Falls, MN, and one brother, Johnny (Arvella) Peterson of Fergus Falls, MN. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen, and his infant son, John Charles Peterson.
