Frances Thorson

Frances Thorson, 90, a resident of Fergus Falls, went to her heaven’s resting place on Saturday, June 20, 2015 surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Frances Gertrude (Forster) Thorson, was born May 13, 1925 to Ignatius and Emma (Bernet) Forster in Belle River, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school through the eighth grade.

Frances was united in marriage to Palmer Howard Thorson October 9, 1950 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River, MN. To this marriage they were blessed with ten children. They farmed near Carlos, MN until 1974, at which time they moved to a hobby farm near Fergus Falls. In 2000 Frances moved into Fergus Falls, with her daughter Della.

Frances, along with raising her children, worked at the Bethany Nursing Home in Alexandria, the Broen Memorial Nursing Home in Fergus Falls and the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center, retiring at the age of 75.

Frances enjoyed gardening, camping and playing cards. She spent many hours quilting, crocheting and knitting and each of her grandchildren have a crocheted afghan she made for them. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to attend her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. Frances was a wonderful cook/baker, which was enjoyed by her family.

In recent years Frances was instrumental in starting a widows group at Our Lady of Victory Church and she always enjoyed her quilting group, mission group and helping out where needed. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a life time member of the Fergus Falls VFW Auxiliary.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Palmer and daughter, Julie; her parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Frances is survived by her children, Derald (Pam) Thorson of Osakis, Delphine (Dean) Steiner of Fergus Falls, Jean (Mark) Rustand of Fergus Falls, Margaret (Tim) Fredrickson of Fergus Falls, Della (Jim) Hulter of Fergus Falls, Marcia (John) Schauff of Underwood, Harold (Kelly) Thorson of Fergus Falls, Judy (Scott) Zenner of Fergus Falls and Gerald (Shantel) Thorson of Fergus Falls; her 28 grandchildren, Jeremy and Tracy (JD Dean) Thorson, Julianna and Josh Lindsey, Angie (J.P.) Polejewski, Matthew (Julie) Rustand, Katie (Craig) Gould, Mandie (Chad) Hulter, Darcy Soland, Ashley and Allison Schauff, Paige (Cassidy Carlson), Colton, Paris and Coy Thorson, Kylie, Hayden and Haylie Zenner, Riley, Rowdy, Ramsey and Wyatt Thorson, Tina, Echo, Jimmy, Brandon and Grant Hulter, along with 28 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Frances will be greatly missed by all. May she rest in peace with her heavenly
Father.

Visitation: 4 to 7p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015 with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. followed by rosary at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls
