Frances Sophia Siems, 98, a resident of Fergus Falls, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Friday, December 12, 2008 at the Pioneer Retirement Community.  She was born in Fergus Falls on August 18, 1910 to Fred and Emilie (Krause) Ladwig. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Friberg and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. On August 16, 1930, she married William J. Siems at her parental home. Frances was employed at Gambles, Modern Laundry and the S and L Department store. She retired in 1973. Frances and William spent many summers enjoying their lake cabin on Long Lake. Frances liked crocheting and made many afghans for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking and her chocolate chip cookies were a family favorite. She also did crossword puzzles and liked to play cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with family. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, William, who died in 1993, brothers, Robert and Frank, sister, Elsa Schulz, great grandson, Trever Moen and a nephew, Clarence Schulz. Survivors include two sons, Donn (Marlys) Siems of Otter Tail Lake, David (Nadine) Siems of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Dann (Lenore) Siems of Bemidji, Dirk Siems of Otter Tail Lake, Kris (Bruce) Cox of Blaine, Dr. Jeffrey (Christy) Siems of Deer Park, WA, Mick (Lori) Siems of Fergus Falls, Robert (Jamie) Siems of Klamath Falls, OR, Diane (Larry) Krog of Fergus Falls, Kathy Bakken (LeRoy Merz) of Fergus Falls, Rick Ruen of Fergus Falls, and Jodi (Doyle) Tollefson of Monticello; great grandchildren, Keshia, Brendon, Brody and James Siems, Bethany, Jordan, Joshua and Jonathan Cox, Sophie, Derek, Ryan, Shelby, Cody, and Sami Siems, Stacie (Jeremy) Foss, Ali Landberg, Jesse Ruen, Travis (Cirstin) Brown, Michael Brown and Kendra Brown; great-great grandchildren, Shania Moen, Averie, Madison and Sophia Foss and Rylee Brown. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Louise Larson of Texas; four nieces and two nephews. Visitation:  5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Olson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service    at the church. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hope Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls Clergy: Reverend Jon Olson Burial: Trinity-Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls Arrangements: Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
