Florence G. Briese, 83, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Lake Region Healthcare.
Florence was born on May 17, 1934, in Fergus Falls Township, the daughter of Herman and Agnes (Zimmer) Albers. She attended country school in rural Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1952. After high school she went on to get her certification in Medical Technologist in Minneapolis in 1953.
On September 18, 1954, she married Thomas Briese at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Florence was a farm wife, but through the years also worked various jobs, including lab technician, bus driver, Victor Lundeens and the Regional Treatment Center.
Florence was a life member at Trinity Lutheran Church and was very active in many church groups. She was also a 4-H leader, a member of the Pork Producers, Homemakers Group, and couples club. She volunteered at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home and cooked at the Salvation Army. Florence enjoyed embroidering and quilting, and believed “Every baby, needed a quilt.” She also loved to garden, read, travel and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Wesley Johnson; in-laws, Gene and MaryAnn Pollum, Robert and Muriel Briese, John Briese, and Gary DeMott.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas; children, Diana Briese (Denny Schultz) of Fergus Falls, Bruce (Gail) Briese of Roseau, Allen (Susan) Briese of Fergus Falls, Shirley (Bruce) Nelson of Erhard; grandchildren, Eric (Lindsy) Briese, Kevin Briese, Jerry (Cindy) Briese, Rebecca (Phil) Larson, Joshua (Katie) Briese, Heather Briese, Logan (Ava) Briese, Cody Briese, Teanna Nelson, Carissa (Nick) Heeter, Carl (Kelly) Nelson, Ethan (Andrea) Nelson, Mark (Debbie) Schultz, Terri (Alvin) Field, Leah Schultz; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Walker, Greta, Jackson, Oliver, Charlee, Joanna, Jack, Ruby, Brady, Brittni, Megan, Kacyn, Samantha; great-great-grandchildren, Madison, Braydn, Kiera, Hayden, Edynn. Also surviving is her sister, Carol Payne of Altus, OK; and sisters-in-law, Judy DeMott of Lakeland, MN, and JoAnn Briese of California; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, and resuming one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend John Christensen and Reverend Noah Rogness
Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery
