Evelyn (Stoffregen) Pins, 84, a resident of Fergus Falls, died peacefully in her sleep with family present on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was known by her family and friends as “Evie”. Evelyn Sonja Stoffregen was born March 27, 1927, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Rudolph and Ellen (Holmquist) Stoffregen. She grew up in Fergus Falls, being baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1946. Following high school she began her travels, moving to Iowa and California. She married Donald Pins in 1953. Over the years she worked in a boot factory, the foundry during the war, and as a dental lab assistant. Her major employment was with the CIGNA Insurance Company in California. She moved back to Fergus Falls after her retirement in 1992. Evie was a lifetime member of Augustana Lutheran Church, and was very involved with the Humane Society. She was an avid Bingo player, and also enjoyed dancing and music. Preceding her in death were her parents, and her brother, Howard Stoffregen. Survivors include four cousins: Gordon Goese of Fergus Falls, Duane Goese of Switzerland, Marie Wentzel of Fergus Falls, and Edith Yeats of Elk River and their families; a special friend, Tanis Henry of Kansas City, and many good friends and neighbors in Fergus Falls. Memorials are preferred to Augustana Lutheran Church, Otter Tail County Humane Society or PioneerCare.
