Evelyn Lena Marquardt, of Rothsay, MN, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls, MN, at the age of 92.
Evelyn was born on September 17, 1921, to Otto and Jennie (Fuchs) Kumm in Glyndon, MN. Her family then moved to rural Fergus Falls where she attended rural school in Carlisle, MN.
On May 9, 1948, she married Russell Marquardt in Fergus Falls. The couple made their home on their farm in rural Rothsay where they raised their family of four children and have lived for 66 years.
She enjoyed gardening, putting puzzles together, and reading. She was also known for her Saturday morning pancakes which she served to family and friends. Whenever company stopped by, they were always served coffee and home-made baked goodies. She loved hosting her family and friends.
Preceding her in death were a son, Robert Marquardt; her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Ernie and Elizabeth Marquardt; brothers, Rolla, Arnold and Clarence Kumm, and nephews, Arnie Kumm and Roger Simmer.
She is survived by her husband, Russell of Rothsay; a son, Ronald of Rothsay; two daughters, Linda (Allen) Leabo of Carlisle and Lynette (Gary) Oien of Pelican Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Barb Marquardt of Pelican Rapids; grandchildren, David (Ann) Oien of Detroit Lakes, Brian Marquardt of Rothsay, Teresa (Cory) Budke of Erhard, Tim (Kari) Marquardt of Rothsay, Donny Marquardt (Brooke Barth) of Rothsay, Brad Marquardt of Rothsay, Jennie Marquardt (Terry Motz) of Rothsay, Morgan Marquardt (Michael Schmitz) of Fargo, and Jackie Marquardt of Rothsay; great-grandchildren, Dillon and Megan Oien, Hailey, Madilynn and Levi Budke, Hunter, Hadley and Hudson Marquardt and Miranda and Jackson Marquardt; sisters-in-law, Ramona and Colleen Kumm, both of Fergus Falls, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home
Service: 1 pm Friday, May 9, 2014, at Foxhome Lutheran Church, Foxhome
