Evelyn Clarice Manderud, 88, a resident of Fergus Falls, MN died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at her home at Park Gardens of heart failure.
She was born on July 28, 1925 in Goodridge Township, Pennington County, Minnesota, the daughter of Casper & Lena (Strand) Iverson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and attended high school in Goodridge. After graduation she moved to Sacramento, California to work, and lived with a sister. She worked at a canning plant and for Murphy Bed while taking modeling lessons.
On August 6, 1947, she married Clarence Manderud in Goodridge, MN. Around 1953 the couple moved to Duluth, MN. Evelyn was a stay at home mom until she took jobs at Montgomery Wards and then Shoppers City. In 1968 the family moved to Fergus Falls, MN where she worked at K-Mart for many years. She also helped her husband as a secretary at Elk River Concrete Co.
Evelyn enjoyed dancing, playing the piano, baking, gardening, sewing, and watching her husband Clarence bowl. She enjoyed working with the Eagles Auxiliary in her spare time and also volunteered at the Pioneer Nursing Home helping with newsletters and making jam for their annual Apple Day functions.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Clarence, two brothers, Garfield and Irvin; two sisters, Molly Olson, and Julia Quam; and in-laws including: Orris Olson, Oliver McEnelly, Sena Iverson, and Morris Quam.
Survivors include her son Wallace (Viola) Manderud, Fergus Falls; daughters Linda (John) Renkar, Chicago, Virginia Luetgers and friend David DeNoble of Alexandria, and Donna (Pete) Sheesley of Arizona; her sister Edna McEnelly; a sister-in-law Evelyn Manderud of St. Paul; her devoted friend Jim Roers, Fergus Falls; nine grandchildren, Anthony, Brian, Jennifer, Stephanie, Brian, Tony, Kayla, Adam, and Michael; ten great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jared, Mia, Jamie, Haley, Christian, Chloe, Ainsley, Bailey, and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 1 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Reverend Stan Satre and Chaplain Harry Olson
Interment: Bethlehem Cemetery, Fergus Falls
